311. “Terry Malloy!”

The episode:High School Big Shot,” ep. 618

The riff: Yelled out of nowhere by Servo as the scene shifts to the docksides, where dopey guy Marvin has taken his prospective love interest on an ill-fated date.

The explanation: Terry Malloy is the name of Marlon Brando’s character in the classic 1954 American crime drama “On the Waterfront.” He plays a man pressured into accepting organized crime who finally decides to take a stand, even if it means the loss of his life. It eventually won Best Picture at the Oscars. Most of the film takes place at similar-looking docks.

Novelty factor: I’ve never actually seen “On the Waterfront,” so the name was a mystery to me.
